The Pin-Up girl craze started as far back as the late 1800's. Back then they were known as Calendar Girls. These lovely ladies were put onto Calendars to help spice up the ad industry. Needless to say, calendars sales were never hotter.
These women knew how to get their way and they did with style as sass. Pin-Up girls have always shown the best aspects of a woman, including their work ethic, their determination and their edge. Oh, and they made sure they looked fabulous when doing so.
War Time Girls. It started back in WWI When Gibson Girls were willing and ready to join the fight for their country! During WWII there was a peak in the Pin-Up with girls dressing a bit more scandalous and giving way to a golden age in US History throughout the 40s and 50s. Celebrities started getting in on the fun as well with Rita Hayworth as the leader of the pack. Little did we know it would open the flood gates to a whole new generation on bombshells.
60s Pin-Up brought with it the sexy swim suit and of course Playboy. Also with the help of Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Sophia Loren woman were beginning to feel a lot more confident in their skin.
We haven't seen as many appearances by these beauties in today's culture. Dita Von Teese and Katy Perry are a few that come to mind. However, these ladies always seem to make a comeback.
